Small lump after chalazion operation

Small lump after chalazion operation

Hello!

4 months ago I operated on a chalazion in my right eye and I have a small lump. I have never had a smooth eyelid, which happened to me when I had surgery on another chalazion that I had in my left eye. The ophthalmologist tells me that sometimes it could take longer to heal, or that it could be a second chalazion right next to the previous one (although he says that inside the eyelid, he does not see signs of infection).

All this sounds very strange to me, because in addition to extreme hygiene during the postoperative period, I insist, the chalazion that I had previously in my left eye, was no longer visible on the eyelid after the operation.

Is this normal? What is your opinion? Any recommendations, how to put a hot compress on the eye in case it could lower the lump? Or is it preferable to let it run its course? Thanks a lot.

Greetings,

Dear Ana Gomez,

In response to your concern, after chalazion surgery there may be a slight 'lump' in the area, which will disappear over time as explained by your ophthalmologist, it will depend in part on how large the chalazion before the intervention or the previous time of evolution, since by situations a kind of 'capsule' can form that takes longer to go away. The possibility that another chalazion is forming contiguous to the previous one is feasible since we have many glands in the eyelids (which form the chalazion when they become blocked), therefore the range of possibilities is amplio.

If you wish, you can request a visit to our ophthalmology center with one of our eyelid specialists for a new evaluation.
A cordial greeting,
