Hello and thank you for submitting your ophthalmology question to our forum.

Dry eye causes discomfort of the type: foreign body sensation, itching and in more severe cases keratitis, that is, inflammation of the cornea.

The use of contact lenses for dry eye is recommended in these cases to relieve symptoms as it acts as a protective screen and allows the cornea to regenerate better, improving the quality of vision.

Unfortunately, there is still no definitive cure for dry eye, but there are some solutions that are more suitable than others.

For example, silicone hydrogel lenses that contains less water than the old models, in this way the natural alteration is reduced and better keeps the eyes moist, since the greater the hydrophilicity of the lens, the greater its aqueous requirement.

All the scleral lenses They are large size lenses that cover the entire surface of the cornea and rest on the sclera, the white part of the eye. This type of contact lens prevents corneal irregularities and creates a space between the lens and the cornea that helps keep the eye always moist, improving vision and dry eye symptoms.
