Sun allergy on the eyes

Sun allergy on the eyes

Good morning 🌞

A year ago I burned my eyes in the sun because I was not wearing sunglasses. After going to a visit with the doctor, he prescribed some drops that helped me very quickly and I had no problem, until summer came.

Every time I spend the day in the sun, my eyes itch, redden and tire very quickly, especially after being exposed to bright light.

Thank you!

Hello and thank you for submitting your question to our ophthalmology forum.

As you explain in your history of burning your eyesight, it is likely that you have hypersensitivity to sunlight and that any minimal exposure to the sun will cause itching and redness.

An ophthalmological review would be advisable to rule out pictures of actinic keratitis, that is, inflammation of the cornea by sunlight.

In any case and as a preventive rule I always advise you to use approved sunglasses and artificial tear instillation.

Greetings,
