History of Mútua General de Catalunya
In 1984 Mútua Hospital General de Catalunya is born within the Catalan civil society, a non-profit insurance entity. Unlike commercial entities, Mutua was not born with the intention of distributing dividends among a group of shareholders, but with the aim of reinvesting the profits to always offer more and better services to the mutuals, the sole owners of the entity.
1987 La Mútua exceeds the number of 20.000 insured.
1989 December - Agrupación Mutua de Previsores is integrated into Mútua General de Catalunya, thus initiating the process of mergers with other mutuals with the aim of leading a movement for the renewal of Catalan mutualism.
1990 The head office of Sant Cugat is moved to Barcelona, on Tuset 36 street.
1994 February - Mutualidad Sant Jordi is integrated into Mútua General de Catalunya.
December - Montepío Sant Faust is integrated into Mútua General de Catalunya.
1996 The name change occurs: from Mútua General Hospital of Catalonia to Mútua General de Catalunya. The Minister of Labor of the Generalitat de Catalunya inaugurates the current headquarters on Tuset Street 5-11.
1997 December - Montepío Federació Santa Maria de Gràcia is integrated into Mútua General de Catalunya.
1998 27 of July - The facilities of the Mutua General de Catalunya Foundation are inaugurated, with the presence of the Minister of Justice of the Generalitat de Catalunya. The same year, the Foundation organizes the First Week of Prevention, and receives the Recognition of Health Interest granted by the Institute of Health Studies of the Generalitat de Catalunya.
The first delegation of the Mútua in Igualada is inaugurated. The mayor of this town and the general director of Social Security preside over the opening ceremony.
1999 Mutual General de Catalunya, always attentive to the possibilities of communication and service provided by new technologies, launches its first portal on the Internet.

2000 1 February - The Mutual Office in Lleida starts operating.
March 9 - The Minister of Economy and Finance of the Generalitat de Catalunya and the Mayor of Tarragona preside over the inauguration of the Mutua offices in this town.
2001 June - Start-up of the Health Portal on the Internet, which provides access to the best web pages with information on patient-oriented health issues.
June - Mútua General de Catalunya becomes part of Groupe APRI, an association based in Paris that hosts social economy entities in Europe.
2002 June - La Mútua, continuing with its line of development and modernization, renews its image, redesigning its symbol and logo. The simplification and the smoothing of the forms adapt to the current aesthetic tendencies.
December - La Mútua exceeds the number of 65.000 insured.
2003 8 of May - Don Manuel Aran, president of Mútua General de Catalunya, receives from the Minister of Economy and Finance of the Generalitat, Hble. Mr. Francesc Homs, the medal for the Promotion of Insurance in Catalonia.
16 of June - The Mutual Board of Directors agrees to appoint Mr. Don Joan Guitart i Agell as the new president of the entity.
2004 September - The commercial office of Palamós is inaugurated.
December - La Mútua exceeds the number of 74.000 insured.
2005 January - La Mútua formalizes the appointment of Mrs. M. Eugènia Cuenca as Defender of the Mutualist.
October – La Mútua organizes the technical conference “Complementary retirement and regional investment: cohesion and development tools”. The Mutualitat Santa Dorotea de Previsió Social is integrated into Mútua General de Catalunya.
December - La Mútua exceeds the number of 78.000 insured.
2006 March - The Mutual General of Catalonia inaugurates a new office of Attention to the Mutualist in Sabadell.
