History by Agrupació Mútua

The origins

The 12 of July of 1902 was founded Agrupació Mútua del Comerç i de la Indústria in Figueres, with sixty partners, organized in the form of a non-profit mutual aid mutual benefit. At the time of its foundation, the social objective of the entity, defined in article 2 of the Regulation, was "to collect a sum among all its individuals each time the death of one of these occurs, to deliver it to the persons close to the deceased partner ".

Agrupació Mutua del Comerç i de la Indústria, together with other mutual aid mutuals, pioneered modern mutualism to respond to a situation of lack of social protection in the early twentieth century when Spain was far from the pace of European development , in full identity crisis for the loss of the last colonies and with social and health assistance, by the public authorities, totally non-existent.

1921-1939

From 1921 to 1936 there was a series of experiences that taught the organization to face the difficulties and that served to consolidate before a future that was interrupted by the war. Despite this, an effort was always made to maintain the normal functioning of the entity, even though, in many moments, this was not easy or possible. From 1936 to 1939, Agrupació Mútua covered the general rights of the partners, without taking into account the side in which they had been.

1940-1959

From 1940 to 1959 there was a period of economic imbalance due to the crisis generated by the war, but at the same time measures were taken to increase the number of partners, which paid off. In 1958 you would reach the 50.000 partners.

The definitive consolidation and growth

From 1960 to 1975 Agrupació Mutua was definitively consolidated as a great social welfare mutual, moving from 61.147 to 167.684 partners. The years that go from 1976 to 1984 were of political transition for the country and also with the promulgation, in 1984, of the Law of private insurance management, for Agrupació Mútua, year in which the 250.000 partners were surpassed.

This Law 33 / 84 of 2 of August demanded a certain level of solvency, which meant to maintain a minimum mutual funds and technical reserves that cover the insured benefits. These requirements meant the end of the old mutualism and a new period of transition and legal transformation that will take shape, in 1992, in new Statutes. The new legal status as mutual insurance and reinsurance premium rate will be ratified by the extraordinary meeting of 1993 and approved by the General Directorate of Insurance in 1994.

S. XXI, fidelity and modernity

At the end of the 20th century, the changes in the modern economy demanded that the Mutual Agrupació discern what were fundamental points of mutualism and those that time cornered as obsolete. With the maintenance of the first and overcoming the second, has been created, at the entrance of the XXI century, a mutual and insurance group fully trained to meet the new challenges, consisting of more than 400.000 partners and customers, to which offers a wide range of services and personal forecast products.
