1864 - The Catalan Fixed Premium Fire Insurance Company, known as "La Catalana", is established.
1878 - Departure to the stock market of collections of La Catalana.
1922 - Purchase of the emblematic building of Paseo de Gracia nº 2 of Barcelona, built in 1890.
1929 - The Group invests in Crédito y Caución.
1948 - Jesús Serra and a group of industrialists acquire the Western society.
1959 - The West takes over control of La Catalana, and the Catalana Occidente Group begins to take shape.
1963 - First company in incorporating information technology into insurance management in Spain.
1964 - The Catalan receives from the Ministry of Finance the Gold Medal of Merit in Insurance.
1971 - The central offices in Sant Cugat del Vallés are inaugurated, whose plant inspires the Group logo.
1984 - The Spanish Government grants the Gold Medal of Merit in the Insurance to Jesús Serra and in 1992 the Generalitat of Catalonia grants the Creu de Sant Jordi.
2001 - The Group successfully completed the takeover of Lepanto, SA and its subsidiary Nortehispana.
2004 - Acquisition of the 99,69% of Seguros Bilbao. Start of acquisition of Atradius shares.
2004 - The total of the Cosalud company is acquired, of which Seguros Catalana Occidente already owned 55% of the shares from 1991.
The interest held in Crédito y Caución was raised to 39,35%.
2005 - Jesús Serra Santamans dies, founder and inspirer of Grupo Catalana Occidente.
