1831: The Company is founded under the name of ASSICURAZIONI GENERALI AUTRO-ITALICHE.
1834: GENERALI establishes itself in Spain.
1848: The Company changes its name and becomes ASSICURAZIONI GENERALI. It adopts as a symbol, the Lion of San Marcos.
1857: Generali shares are listed for the first time on the Trieste stock exchange.
1881: Generali turns 50. That same year, Generali opens its subsidiary in Austria under the name of ERSTE ALLGEMEINE.
1893: The first issue of its corporate magazine is published: IL Bolletino.
1931: Generali celebrates its first centenary.
1937: Generali incorporates the first electro-mechanical accounting unit.
1947: With the end of World War II, Generali loses its heritage located in the countries of Eastern Europe.

2006: Generali acquires the Turin-based insurance company TORO. Joint venture in India with the Future group.
2007: Generali celebrates its 175th anniversary.
2008: Generali consolidates its leadership position in Eastern Europe by signing a joint venture agreement with the PPF group
2010: Vitalicio and Estrella Seguros merge to operate under the GENERALI Seguros brand.
