Dr. Juan José Boveda is studying medicine and specialty of Ophthalmology in Caracas (Venezuela), obtaining the Homologation of the Spanish title of Specialist in Ophthalmology in January 2004. He devoted his postgraduate thesis to trabeculectomy in the surgical treatment of glaucoma. He completed his training with a year of fellowship at the Bascom Palmer Eye Institute of the Faculty of Medicine of the University of Miami (United States). Professor of the Postgraduate Course in Ophthalmology at the Antonio Rísquez General Hospital in Caracas. Ophthalmologist Collaborator of the Barraquer Ophthalmology Center and the Ophthalmology Department of the Dexeus University Institute of Barcelona.
Currently integrated in Área Oftalmológica Avanzada as head of the Medical Retina Section, where he develops his clinical, teaching and research activities. Her area of interest is in general diseases that affect the eye, mainly diabetes, arterial hypertension and immunological processes that can cause serious alterations in the ocular structure. He is one of the main pioneers in the collaboration of ophthalmologists with internists.
