Perhaps one of the most important advances in the campor of the audiovisuals is the appearance of the systems in 3D, the ability to emboss images, static or dynamic, such as a video or a movie. Although it is a technology that must be perfected, it is already a reality in our society.
View the screens well in 3D
The issue is that not everyone has the visual ability to "enjoy" this progress (One 12% of the population presents deficits of vision in relief, 1.000.000 of people in Catalonia) and this we are seeing now, in the consultations that many people do that, thinking that they had a "normal" vision, it turns out that they are not able to see the films well 3D. This fact is already significant in itself but perhaps the most important thing is that these people, besides not seeing well the cinema in 3DThey have an associated problem that is manifested in other activities, such as sports or driving and here it is worrisome.
In our center (Área Oftalmológica Avanzada), which for years we have been treating athletes, especially dedicated to the engine, we know about this problem and that there are more people than we imagine with deficits in the vision in relief, the stereopsis, - that is the bad news-, but at the same time and there is the good news, is that this deficit can be to improve.
Perception of depth
Not having a correct relief vision assumes that we miscalculate distances, especially when it is a moving object that moves away or nears, such as a tennis ball or a car, is what is known as "Play in the area" or collision times, respectively. In the first case it means not adjusting the moment of contact of the racket with the ball, you fail the blow and even if it bothers a lot, unless you are a professional player, the problem does not pass from here, but in the time of collision in the driving, the consequences can be dire.
We recommend everyone who has noticed a problem in the visualization of 3D cinema or screens of this type, or suffer from strabismus, who come to your optical or its ophthalmologist, so that you can carry out a detailed study of your vision in relief and test them for collision times, since knowing this deficit will make us more prudent when driving and in many cases, through visual therapy, we can improve it.
