We are going to talk about the adverse and side effects of prostaglandins and glaucoma. One of the main reasons why we are going to talk about it is that it is one of the glaucoma treatments that is increasingly established as the first line of treatment.
Treatment of glaucoma with drops
When we decided to start a treatment of drops in a patient with glaucoma We must not forget that we are talking about establishing a treatment that is in principle chronic.
Given this decision we must always assess the risk / benefit of this act.
By risk we understand the possible side effects and adverse effects of any medical treatment.
By benefit we understand the control of the disease, in this case it would be to avoid "blindness".
Side effects of glaucoma treatment with prostaglandins
It is important to previously define the groups according to the pathology. They will be divided into cases:
- Very common> 1/10
- Common> 1/100 to <1/10
- Uncommon> 1/1000 to <1/100
- Rare> 1 / 10.000 to <1/1000
- Very rare <1 / 10.000
We are going to divide this section into four groups:
